The real pirates: Disney

Saw Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man's Chest yesterday, and I have only this to say:




What. The. Fuck. Was. THAT?



Oh, OK. I'll say a bit more. This movie was a waste of 2.5 hours. The first movie was ahead by miles. Where is the charm, the intrigue, the sassiness of #1?


2.5 hours!

For something that was high on special effects but low on substance.

For something that struggled to make people laugh most of the way.

For something that could have been done in 1.5 hours, if they cut all the crap out.

For something that even Depp couldn't save.

For something that in parts made you go, "ok, what the fuck is happening?" ever so often.

And finally...

... for something that is just a 2.5 hour long lead-in to the third part. I actually said, "That's the end? You're fucking kidding me, right?" when it was over.

When did this movie turn into a crappy "pirates" version of Back to the Future?


Disney, you're the pirates. You get people to see this dreck and steal their money.

Apollo-Gs for butting in, but do go watch the movie. In all fairness, I have to agree with the madman, the story line is so weak that it dies 30 minutes into the film. Some of the fun sequences have NOTHING to do with the plot at all. However, if you like Depp even a wee bit, it's fun. The movie is larger than life, there is a lot happening, and I loved the ending. Really did. Cannot wait for 2007 and part III now.

I'm gonna watch it just for JD! its always like this, everytime the producers are sure its gonna be a trilogy, they make the second part really really yucky. Just like the Matrix.

anyways, sorry we couldnt make it for orange sorbets. way too much work.

Didn't like Part I (it felt like a masala B grade movie), so never even bothered to go see Part II. And can you imagine this movie is breaking box-office records all over the world?

my personal opinion even about the first part was that it was rubbish.

what johnny depp does is not acting, he is at best a hamming drunkard singing in a bar. he has been much better in other movies of his.
it was interminably long, and the plot was absent - as you said, a filler for part 3. my bottom gave out after about an hour and a half, and my head after 2.

What can you expect, when a theme park ride is turned into a movie?
Its still going to make tons of money, and droves of women are going to sing accolades for johnny depp, so much so that him (and the movie) will undeservedly get nominated for an oscar.

I watched this movie with some friends. It was packed. And thankfully I didn't pay the ticket.

This is a reminder of why am I allergic to Hollywood movies. I felt I wasted 2.5 hours of my life.

Too damn right! I fell asleep in the first half, but then I realised i've paid 150 hard earned bucks for this bus-load of crap... so i'd better wake up and make sense of this bilge. An hour later, I was convinced that Jonny Depp is NOT a good enough reason to Auschwitz urself.

I went to watch the movie JUST for Johnny Depp and boy was I bummed out--crappy, crappy movie, and not even Johnny Depp could have saved it. The movie was just a weak link to the third movie, obviously--which had better be bloody good.
